Structured JSON logs to journald or Loki, Prometheus exporters for long-running jobs, Healthchecks.io-style heartbeat pings for batch jobs.

Storage

SQLite for local state, MariaDB or Postgres for shared, S3-compatible object stores for blobs. We avoid one-off files in /tmp.

Secrets

.env files with mode 0600 and ownership locked down for simple cases; HashiCorp Vault or systemd credentials for anything multi-host.

Version control

Every automation lives in a git repo with a README that says how to run it locally. No "the script lives on Bob's laptop" tribal knowledge.

Smallest job we have shipped recently: a 12-line Bash script that watches a payment-processor email inbox and posts new charges to Slack. Took 90 minutes to write, replaced 30 minutes of manual work per day. We will quote any size project — there is no minimum.

We write headless-browser scrapers (Puppeteer/Playwright) when there is no API. They are more fragile than APIs but they work. We instrument them so failure when the upstream HTML changes is detected within an hour, not a month.

Either way. Most clients want us to host on Tuxxin Linux infrastructure — one less thing to manage. If you have your own Linux server we will deploy there with documented systemd unit files. We do not deploy to shared cPanel hosting (cron on shared hosts is too unreliable).

Yes. For low-frequency jobs (hourly or rarer) and stateless work, serverless is a great fit. For long-running data pipelines we usually still pick a Linux box — boots faster, debugs easier, costs less.
